Subject: [LMK] Re: Cook(e) and general questions

My ggrandfather was James Cook(e) born in 1844. We believe he is from
County Limerick, but can find no proof anywhere. The Great Chicago Fire of
1871 has destroyed his naturalization papers of 1868. He married a woman
(Bridget Barry) from County Limerick in the U.S. in 1880, who was from
Herbertstown. We believe that he emigrated to the U.S. around 1862, and his
wife emigrated just before they were married in 1880. How could they have
known each other? Was this unusual? My other question is if he did
emigrate from Co. Limerick, was there a specific port at this time from
which he would have left? I'm trying to find some other way to trace him.
THANKS.
