Does anyone know a site to check for Declarations of
Intention filed in NY, 1848? Were they required upon
landing? If not, how much time was allowed before
filing? If the person moved to another city in NY
state, would they likely file there, or in NYC, if
this was their port of entry? If a person didn't
intend to travel outside of US, why would/wouldn't
they file? Can a person work backwards from other
lists, such as voter registration? Was Declaration of
Intention required for voting? Thanks for any help
