The Abbeyfeale area is heavily populated with Hartnetts. The Collins name
is also very prominent. Abbeyfeale is just soutwest of NewCastle West on
the Tralee road.

Hi all
I am new to the list and i am researching the Collins and Harnett (Hartnett)
families in Co.Limerick.
Thomas Collins was born around 1823 and his wife Mary Harnett Born around
1829 immigrated to Australia on the ship "Success" arriving Sydney on
18-12-1849.Thomas and Mary were married in Co. Limerick in 1849 prior to
leaving.His brother John and his wife Johanna Keefe and 2 children ,brother
Dennis and sister Margaret also made the voyage on the "Success".
The Family was joining their father Dennis Collins, born around 1793, of
Abbeyfale Co. Limerick in the Illawarra district of New South Wales. Dennis
was convicted of sheep stealing at Listowel Co. Kerry in 1834 and
transported to Australia for life on the ship "Backwell" in 1835 aged 42.
Dennis was married to Elizabeth.
In the registers of assisted immigrants arriving in Sydney, Thomas, John and
Dennis gave SHANNAFORNIE Co. Kerry as their native place and County. Mary
Harnett gave DROMLIEGASSIE Co Kerry. Margaret gave Abbyfale Co. Limerick. A
birth certificate for one of Thomas and Mary's Sons Michael Collins in 1857
gives both Thomas and Mary as being born in Co. Limerick. Does anyone know
if these places are in Co. Limerick . I believe that a lot of assisted
migrants came to Australia from Shannagolden about this time Possibly they
only departed for Australia from Co. Kerry.
I would love to hear from anyone with information on this family
