Unless you are prepared to travel to Limerick city, and
spend your time searching through the archives of, say, the
Limerick Leader newspaper, at the library, there is no way,
other than hiring a local searcher, that you can get at
published obituaries.
>If I can find out where/when they died I might be able to
trace
>some cousins who I know are still there in Limerick. I
have a source that tells
>me they died in 1930 ca which would have made them in
their 90s. I just can't
>leave this rest! Even for Christmas.
You could do a search of the Deaths Indexes at the LDS. The
film numbers are:
1922 - #0101735; 1923-1926 #0101736 ;
1927-1929 #0101737 ; 1930-1931 #0101738 ;
1932-1934 #0101739 ; 1935-1937 #0101740
1938-1941 #0101741.
Just concentrate on the names for the registration district
of Newcastle. With the Year, Page and Volume numbers, and
Registration District, you'll get a photocopy of the
entries from the GRO, Dublin (www.groireland.ie)

It was, in my memory, traditional to light a blessed candle
on the eve of All Souls' Day and also on Xmas Eve and place
it on an outside. That it was stood in a turnip, indicates
a very rural setting - nonetheless, a good common sense
safety precaution.
