If he was married in Limerick, your best move would be to
check the Irish civil marriage indexes (that began in 1864)
for a few of years both sides of 1885 at an LDS Family
History Centre for James and his bride ( presume you know
her name). The film numbers are:

1881-1884 # 0101254 ; 1885-1888 #0101255

Preparatory to visiting the LDS, check www.seanruad.com for
a list of PLU's (Registration Districts ) in Co.Limerick.
If you find him and her, record the full date, the
registration district, the page and volume numbers. With
that info., you can get a photocopy or full certificate the
GRO, Dublin, see www.groireland.ie for details under
'FEES'.
