For what it is worth, the signatures needed on the certificate prior to
emigrating to NSW with financial assistance included that of a medical
practitioner. That on the certificates of William Grum of Ballingarry and
his wife Anne Catherine (Markham) Grum, [sister of my g.g.grandfather] who
emigrated on the 'Herald" 1845, recorded the signature of Robert Odell M.D.
of Ballingarry

Does your "List of residents in Ballingarry 1845..." include any Curtain or
Grum/Grumm names, pls?
