All Catholic church records that have been filmed are held by the National
Library of Ireland - NLI.
Only one Diocese does not allow viewing of its records - that is Cashel and
Emly.
The only Roman Catholic Diocese that does not allow public viewing of its
records is Cashel and Emly - the only Diocese that allows restricted viewing
is Kerry - permission can be obtained from the Kerry Diocese by writing to
the Bishop.
Other than those two, there is no restriction on viewing any film held in
the National LIbrary in Dublin. Limerick was restricted until about two
years ago.
The 'Catholic Church' does not restrict viewing of it's records to any
body - these two Bishops have restrictions - that is all.
For all of the freely available R.C. records and easily available through
the LDS - statistically, there is very little on line. Transcribing and
posting is an option for all other records held by the LDS.
