I am guessing that you are basing this on the fact that the death occurred
considerable distance from home. However, since he was 105 years old, there
may not be anything unusual. The unusual think about this might be that he
was far from home at such an age. However, I have no idea of the
circumstances. Perhaps he was living with family, but wanted to be buried
"back home"? In any case, it is certainly worth looking to see if the was a
coroner's report.

I have done very little research in Ireland, but I did obtain a copy of a
marriage certificate once through the LDS. I wonder if the LDS also has
films of the death certificates which is a considerably cheaper route than
going through GRO.
