Beth,

Do your records of Scanlans show a John Scanlan married to a Rose or Rosanna
Powell? They lived in Chicago. The baptismal record of their child
Margaret in 1870 give their last name as D'Scanlan or O'Scanlan.

Their children who I have found are:
Mary Scanlan, b. 3 Dec 1857
Thomas William Scanlan, b. 26 Apr 1859
Ellen Scanlan, b. 16 Oct 1860
James Henry Scanlan, b. 23 Jul 1865
Margaret D'Scanlan, b. 9 Nov 1870

I am assuming they could be from Limerick because my Powells who were
baptized in the same churches are. So far all the Powells I have found in
those churches were descendants of my Powells from the Ballylanders area,
but I can find no further information about this Scanlan/ Powell family.
