Thanks Padraig, I appreciate this site and I will begin to communicate with
them and see if that will get me some results. I knew the years were very
difficult for information but I have found a few before 1856 and some in the
late 1850's but it seems that almost none in 1856. This two have been
exremely hard to track, they were in a different place at every census. I
think they followed th RR contruction. Thanks again. Jane

Well, the reason you can't find a record of the Toronto marriage is simply
because civil registration in Ontario began only in 1868/9, and they will
not appear in any Canadian censuses, as they were in Mississippi in 1860.
Your only hope is a church record, but who knows in which parish they were
married! You try the R.C. Archdiocese of Toronto
http://www.archtoronto.org/ who will tell you which parishes existed in 1856
and where their records might be archived.
