Thanks for writing back so quickly. It is interesting that your Skelly's
are from the same areas of Longford County as my family. If your John was
the brother of the Skelly who married my gggg grandfather that may mean we
could be cousins. Anyway, I have a contact in the Ballymahon area who is a
cousin and I will ask her if she has any way of finding out more information
about the Skelly's. Do you have any other names of Skelly that might have
been brothers and/or sisters of John Skelly?? Pretty much all of my
research is being done in Ireland as my great grandfather came to the USA in
1888 and supposedly didn't have any relatives living here. The cousin I
found in Ballymahon is the granddaughter of my great grandfather's brother,
James Mulleady.
I love to know naming patterns, in our family they tend to be very
generational.
