Bill,

The townland of Ballynascraw is about 5 miles due north of Edgeworthstown,
and is only a few hundred yards south of the difficult, brambly cemetery
which gives its name to the civil parish. The CP of Clonbroney spreads
southward to within 2 miles of Edgeworthstown, southwestward to within 4
miles of Longford town, northward about 4 miles north of Ballinalee and
eastward to a point about 3 miles SW of Granard. The parish has the shape of
a somewhat deformed pear, standing up.

The topography of Clonbroney parish seems to be intermediate between the
flatlands to the south of Edgeworthstown and down into Westmeath, and the
drumlin country starting just north of the stem of Clonbroney's pear. There
are many streams in the parish, and probably about 10 percent of the land is
wooded. The highest point in the parish is a bit less than 500 feet.
