Subject: [LONGFORD] Edward Farrell's Alien Declaration
Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2003 18:55:06 -0400

Here it is, taken from the county clerk's office of Rensselaer in
Troy, NY. I wish I had a scanner or digital camera, but I don't and
can only type the following:
(I capitalized the hand-written in part)

State of New York, Renssselaer County, Troy Justices' Court
Alien's Declaration

Be it Remembred, That on the 27 day of OCTOBER in the year of
our Lord on thousand eight hundred FIFTY-FOUR I EDWARD

a clerk and seal, and made oath in open Court, that it was bona
fide my intention to become a Citizen of the United States, and to
renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any and every foreign
prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatsoever, and more
particularly to the QUEEN of GT BRITAIN of whom I am now a
subject, and that I landed in the United States ON THE 26 DAY OF
DECEMBER IN THE YEAR 1848 UNDER THE AGE OF 18
YEARS.
Registry of my place of residence, birth place, age, nation and
allegiance, and where I migrated from LIVERPOOL
Place of residence - TROY
Birth place - LONGFORD IRELAND
Age - 22
Nation & Allegiance - GT BRITAIN
Migrated from - LIVERPOOL
Sworn in open Court this 27 day of Oct 1854

Then, someone signed his name for him, wrote "his mark", and
Edward made his "X".
This was taken from Book 4, page 307 of City of Troy
Naturalization Index Rensselaer County 1844-1872 A-L
(Persons Naturalized in Justice Courts, City of Troy)

On the same page and the following page are the same sworn in
dates for Patrick Coffield (Caulfield), James Heaney and Francis
Heaney. The Heaneys are also from Longford. Caulfield is from
Roscommon.

As I have said, I cannot scan this, but am willing to fax it to anyone
who is interested within the USA.
