Eilis, I'm so impressed with your helpfulness that I'm taking a shot you might guide me re: my great grandfather, John O'Hara, born Mayo around 1920, moved to Cork prior to the birth of his four siblings (1821-1835), and emigrated from Cork to New York State around 1847. I have good American records on John, his brothers William and Patrick, his mother Ann. His father, Michael, does not seem to have emigrated; his sisters, Catherine and Margaret, disappeared from our records sometime in the 1850's. Family folklore suggests John married Mary Haggerty at St. Colman's before coming over; I think it's more likely that William married a different Mary there, and that John was married in Little Falls, NY. Online research indicates St. Colman's was built after they left Ireland. Was there a smaller St. Colman's Church there in Cork prior to 1847?
