Hello Ellis;

I, too, thought the birth record at the GRO was a longshot, but it fits with everthing the U.S. Church records at St. John's, Pittston, PA have listing the parents of children born to Patrick Kelly and Mary Flannelly; it fits the ages on the ship record of the Cynosure for Patrick Kelly/Mary Flannelly and the three children born in Ireland to a tee. Also there is no record of Patrick and Mary in St. John's until the birth of a child in 1866. They are absent in the 1860 census but do show in the 1870 census. I have checked naturalization records, went through wills, etc. Yes, I have done my homework in the U.S and am fairly certain it is they.

I've also done research on another line of Kelly/Gibbons in the U.S. and tracked them back to Knockrooskey and Mace respectively.

I know some researchers make leaps of faith that are not supported by fact (as I certainly have done) but I believe this info to be valid. As I understand it, church records for this area for the period of time 1822 to 1850 are practically non-existent.

Regards,
Jerry
