Hello Kim,

I assume that US civil and church records for Eleanor (Ellen) Veasey (surname variations in Ireland include Vesey, Vessey, Vesy, etc.) listed County Mayo as her birth county. The Veasey surname is found not only in Mayo but in at least 15 or 16 other Irish counties at the time of Eleanor's birth.

To find Eleanor Veasey's family in Mayo you need to know, in addition to the county, the townland and civil parish where she originated. There are no surviving census records for the 1800s for Mayo and civil registration didn't start until 1864 (Protestant marriages in 1845) so church registers for the townland/civil parish where she originated in Mayo would be your source for family information. In addition to her townland/civil parish, you need to know her parents names and religious denomination.

Here's an explanation of Irish civil divisions: http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library/article.aspx?article=2435

Her US civil and church records for marriage and death, obituary, cemetery record, tombstone and will are sources for research. In addition, her children's civil and religious birth (baptism), marriage and death records may include specifically where their mother was born in Mayo.
