Anne, I also have McNicholas/Brennan connections in Treenaglerah & Woods. James and I don't have an immediate connection. I have Sean (John) Patrick Brennan b. bet 1877-1886 married to Bridget McNicholas b. 1879. Their kids: Della, Mae, Joseph b. 1905, Cahterine b. 1907, Bridget b. 1908, JP (John Patrick) b. 1910. Let me know if thing sounds familiar. Christine Lydon

Hi Anne,
I also looked up Kate's story in "Kiltimagh, Our Life and Times".Unfortunatly there is a lot less detail and some errors. Not previously mentioned was that Kate was among a family of eleven but no outcome of her case is mentioned.I suspect that the whole family emigrated before a trial because there are no Byrnes on the 1901 census for Knocknaskea.
The townland of Knocknaskea is just below that of Treenagleragh, maps are available free on the Mayo County Library website.Go to Quick links maps, the parish is Killedan then scroll down to Knocknaskea. A free plugin is provided to download the maps assuming you have a broadband connection.
Old newspapers are available in national collections at certain libraries depending on where you live.
I would be most interested in any information you have on your McNicholas/Brennan relations.
Regards
James
