Right then. Your gran is Anne Thornton b 1894. And
her sister is Mary Agnes Thornton with parents John
and Catherine Honor McHale Thornton?

Irish civil registrations records, which began in
1864, aren't online or computerised unlike Scotland's
or England's. The Index microfilms of Irish civil
registrations records are in date order for each
event, birth, marriage, death, and you can order the
Index microfilms through your nearest LDS Family
History Centre. The Index microfilms will only include
the Registration District where the event happened,
not the actual location of the event. You need to
order the actual civil records for each event, birth,
marriage, death, to find out specifically where the
event happened.

If you get your grandmother's civil birth cert you can
find specifically where she was born in County Mayo.
Even though the family is listed as being in
Tawnaghmore in the 1901 census, she may not have been
born there. You can get her civil birth record from
the General Register Office http://www.groireland.ie
and click on "apply for cert" and it will confirm the
parents names you've gotten for her in her Scotland
records and her birthplace in County Mayo.

The 1901 Mayo census is online and you can search it
through the following link:

Select Mayo as your search county and put the head of
household surname and given name in which generally
would be Anne's father if he was living, and her
mother if he was deceased.
