Marion,
I wrote to the Meath Heritage Centre (Mill Street, Trim, County Meath,
Ireland) asking them for a single record search in their indexes for a Roman
Catholic baptism for my gr-grandfather giving them his and the parents' names
(incl. mother's maiden name), the approximate date of birth (I gave a 5 year
span), and told them the townland was unknown. I included a check for $25
(US). I heard back from them in TWO WEEKS! Unfortunately, they found no
record of his baptism, but that was one county I could cross off my list, and
now I'll continue my search in Westmeath instead. The strength of these
heritage centers are their indexes. They don't all have wonderful
reputations, but Meath was very responsive. Good luck.
