Hi, everyone -
Funeral expenses in this day and age can be staggering. Just to give you an
idea of the kind of costs with which some of our ancestors had to contend,
here is a list of expenses surrounding a funeral held in the fall of 1862
in Washington County, NY - a whopping total of $136, which was probably a
considerable sum at that time. This particular funeral was for one of our
Empey IP family members... Glad they kept great records so that this gem
was saved...
