Hi, Dan... St. John & Switzer families married into our MacDonald/Purdy
bunch. My cousin Violet Cotton married Carl St. John and still lives in
Sunderland, ON.

Hello Marilyn,
Many of these Simcoe and other various Canadian Palatines arrived in North
America from Ireland after their families had spent a long period there.
Previously they had come from the Palatine region of Germany. Perhaps
you are already aware of this. I do not have Purdy or Fretz among my
St. John and Switzer, both in Simcoe (Brock Twp.) nor Rathkeal, County
Limerick, IRE.

Here's a list of the names that were included in the Irish Name Book and
the County Limerick Name book for Palatines. I am sure these are not all
there is.
