Hello Mary,

The surname EMPEY caught my eye in the bit about the historical
sketch. Is there a reference to exactly which EMPEY this was? Was
Catherine the d/o John EMPEY? And if I understand you correctly,
RUCKLE was her maiden name and she married first an EMPEY and then a
SWITZER?

Thanks...

Susan

Sac> Eula Lapp in To Their Heirs Forever says that Catherine, wife of Johan
Sac> Christopher Switzer of Court Matrix was a Ruckle.

Sac> A Historical Sketch written by J. Holmes for the Ruckle-Switzer picnic in
Sac> 1925says in part: Mrs. Switzer [Catherine Ruckle Empey, daughter of Daniel son
Sac> of George] also says ----- that Grandfather Switzer [Jacob, husband of Mary
Sac> Ruckle] was second cousin of her father, Daniel Ruckle"

Sac> Jacob Switzer born 1756 was a second cousin once removed of Daniel Ruckle and
Sac> is probably the Jacob who married Mary Ruckle. This Jacob was a grandson of
Sac> Johan Christopher Switzer.
