Some thoughts on timing of celebrations
I think the emigration timing went something like this: The 1709 Palatine
emigration began spring 1709 - left Rotterdam summer/fall 1709 - London
winter 1710 - arrived New York Province summer 1710 - arrived Ireland ?
(likely 1710 but I don't know the year)
I suspect each country may wish to focus on the date that the event
happened in their country. Hence the celebration dates in various countries
may be spread over the 2 years (2009 and 2010) and not just 2009.
A 'sequence' of official gatherings may look something like this: May 2009
something in Germany - October 2009 London - summer 2010 something both in
Ireland and United States? I heard that the US are looking to 2010.
Any thoughts?
