Hi Verna,

I really don't know if your MOONEYs are my MOONEYs. I haven't been at this
very long, and I've been concentrating my efforts on the relatively rare
family name of CUSKELLY for my grandmother's family.

My grandfather, Francis MOONEY, and his family seem to have lived almost
everywhere in northern Offaly during the 1880s/1890s, so pinning down his
family's origins is going to be something of a challenge. Moate would not be
out of the question, and reasearching there is definitely on my to-do list.
His father, William A. MOONEY (b. ~1850) must have been from a
younger-brother-without-land branch of the family to live such a nomadic
existence. William's father was a Francis MOONEY (b. ~ 1820), but I don't
know where he or his son William were born.

I might know more in the next two weeks, just got the parish register for
Tullamore (which my grandfather called "home") and am hoping this will help
me find or eliminate possibilities.

Any chance of a connection? Feel free to write me off board
().

Patty
