Hello Shirley,
For information about the location and periods covered for the parish registers for St. Mary's Church of Ireland (Anglican) in Athlone you'd need to contact the Church of Ireland Archives in Churchtown, Dublin. The Archives can advise about whether the records are held at the Archives or locally at the Church. Many Church of Ireland records were sent to Dublin for storage and unfortunately destroyed during a fire in Dublin in 1922. Here's the link to the Church of Ireland Archives with email contact: ireland.anglican.org/library/libroots.html
If the records are held locally in the parish the local vicar or rector decides whether to search the records for you. There's a fee schedule which the Church has for research in the local records which is explained on the website should the local clergy decide to do the genealogical search for you.
.
There may also be records available through fee based research service Dun na Si Heritage Centre in County Westmeath which you can contact directly regarding their records held. .
If the family was RC, the parish records for the RC parish of St. Mary's in Athlone are available microfilmed on order through a LDS Family History Centre , film ##1279224 item 4-14; 1279226 1-3 but verify those numbers with LDS before ordering the films.
RC parish registers are also searched by the Dun na Si Heritage Centre in County Westmeath on a fee basis also.
Regards.
Eilis O'Hara.
