Subject: [IRL-WEXFORD] New Europe flights - promo fares
Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 10:32:39 EDT
Hi everyone.
Yesterday, "Open Skies" agreements between the US and Europe became
effective. This means that any US airline and Aer Lingus/ British Airways/Lufthansa
etc. can add/start flights between any point in the US and any point in
Europe. Before, each country had agreements as to how many and which carriers
could fly between cities; this sometimes kept the prices higher - especially to
places like London.
Some of the carriers are offering cheaper promotional fares to fill up their
planes until the public realizes that they serve specific pairs of cities
(i.e. New York to Dublin, Atlanta to London, etc.). One of the promo fares I
saw (not to Dublin) was available for travel until May 15.
Check with the airlines which fly from your local larger cities for the
possibility of some good deals - if you are travelling soon.
