Further to Joyce's transcriptions

If I am reading my transcription notes correctly the following came from the
Acton Papers, National Library of Ireland, film n.4563 or p.4529 [negative
or positive] section 4 III This may help new listers understand that
checking surrounding parishes or looking for the oldest parishes in the area
is a necessity!

Deed...erecting portions of the parishes of Castlemacadam, Arklow and
Dunganstown into a separate parish or perpetual cure dated 1832. The Mother
churches of the three parishes above cannot accommodate the inhabitants who
resort to them and on account of the distance many cannot resort them to(?)
and as a church has been lately erected at Redcross in Castlemacadam parish
which it would suit many of the people of these two parishes to resort to
and that
Redcross be made a separate parish or perpetual curacy. Salary to be £50
per annum to be paid in three parts by the three Incumbents of the
nominations of the curate-in-charge to be first by the Incumbent of
Dunganstown, second by Castlemadadam, third by Arklow. Dated 7 Feb 1832

For earlier entries for parishioners for the Redcross area one would search
the parish registers for Castlemadam and Dunganstown. Arklow's too were
lost with even greater effect as those egisters began in 1798.

Cheers

Deb Flanagan
