Could some kind person check at the record office for,-
1. The 1563 Terrier of Newport for evidence of Searle/Serle
resident then; and
2. Marriage records from their beginning to 1560 for any
Vause-Searle marriages.
I suspect there was an immigration into IOW {likely Newport} of a
Vause and a Searle, perhaps as a married couple, from the Odiham or
Crondall districts of north-eastern Hampshire in the late 1400s or early
1500s.
My 10x great-grandfather was Nicholas Vause, shoemaker in
Newport, ca 1525-1589. Many thanks from Canada.
