I am sure there was a great deal of work to do when a pig was slaughtered.
Lots of hot water was needed. There was a lot of scraping to clean the skin.
Firewood had to be gathered to keep the fire going. Also, there was probably
some good food to eat. Lots of reasons for the kids to stay home. Richard
