Hello List Members,
Thank you for your friendly and hospitable introduction to the IOW list. I
have been reading the list for some weeks now to get a feel for your culture
and reckon I am about ready to get my feet wet so, here goes.
I seek information concerning Wm (BILL) Farmer. CPO, RN, WWI. and his wife
Ethel, nee Channing. I know they had a daughter called Peggy. Peggy would
perhaps be in her mid 70,s now.
Last known address, 'The Anchorage', Steyne Road, Bembrige, IOW. Maybe
1920s/1940s.
Regettably nothing else is known. I do hope you will be able to help. It
would be appreciated.
Ethel was born in Jersey, Channel Islands. DOB not known but probably after
the 1891 census. She, Bill and their family remain virtually unknown to me,
and I would like to know more. Of course I am willing to share and exchange
any information about them that I can. Certainly it would add to the
'family tree' which is growing at quite a pace. My interest springs
initially from Ethels sister , Emily Linane, nee Channing, my late gmother.
Finally, an uncle Arthur, Peggy's cousin, wrote to me recently with the
forgoing data. He concluded with the observation that Ethel was the only
member of the family that lived abroad. The IOW??? And he has lived in
Lancashire since 1940!!!
Once an Islander...........
Thaking you again in anticipation
Michael
