Dear Kate,
Many thanks for your response to my listing. My mother, who is the only
member of my families previous generation still living and at the age of
94yrs does now have great difficulty in recalling the names of past
generations, is fairly certain that William Ernest was born in Ryde and that
one of his father's names was Richard, which name has been passed down to
me. From what I can recall of childhood visits to the island in the late
1940's it is possible that the family may also have members living in
Ventnor or Shanklin, which, apart from Ryde, were the main places we stayed.
Again many thanks for your reply. I will keep you informed of any
developments.
Richard.
