Right now I am lurking and learning but whilst going thru a Bideford, Devon
1871 census I found this man at the Union Workhouse and thought perhaps
someone might claim him

William TOPELL (perhaps LOPELL) - widower- 61 -occ. white smith- IOW, East
Cowes/Coves?

As I said still learning the towns so not sure which. And if anyone knows,
what is a "white smith"?
