I am looking for a connection between the above families.
Elizabeth URRY married Thomas WAVELL in 1769. I am not sure of Elizabeth's
parents but an Elizabeth URRY, daughter of John URRY and Elizabeth DRAPER,
was made a ward of Thomas BULL of Godshill, yeoman, and Robert DRAPER of
Brixton in 1758. The only son of Elizabeth and Thomas WAVELL was Jeremiah
Urry WAVELL. This was rather unusual as there was no Jeremiah anywhere in
either the Wavell or Urry family trees and the Wavells almost invariably
named the first sons Thomas and David.
In 1822 there was a lease by Sarah SCRYMGER and Charles and Eliza WILLIAMS
of Ryde (I have no idea who these people are) on the lives of James DENHAM,
(21) son of James of Ryde, Henry Urry WAVELL (19), son of Jeremiah Urry
WAVELL and William WOODROW (18), son of Jeremiah of Ryde. I don't know why
these three were selected but it is the first I have seen the name Jeremiah
in any connection with the Wavell family.
In checking the IGI I found Jeremiah WOODROW married Caroline BULL in 1847
in Brading. I also found a James DENHAM married Jane Bull in Cowes in 1772.
I know all this proves nothing but there are too many coincidences. First,
the only other occurrence I have found for the name Jeremiah and three
connections to the Bull family. Can anyone shed any light on this mystery?
