Hello,

I recently made a trip to the Isle of Wight in search of my great
grandfather's birth records and had great success, but of course it opened up
a whole new line of ancestors for me. My great grandfather was James William
COLEMAN, b. 31 Dec 1843. His birth was registered at the sub district of
Godshill, co. Southampton, Isle of Wight. I am now trying to sort out his
parents:

James COLEMAN and Jemima FRANKLIN. I have found them in the 1841 census for
the Isle of Wight and then nothing until the 1861 census of Toronto, Ontario,
Canada.

I believe James COLEMAN's parents were Reuben COLEMAN and Fanny CAWS.

I have no information on the FRANKLIN's.

Is anyone familiar with these families?

I was able to tour around a little bit while I was there and fell in love
with the Island. I definitely plan to return someday and search for buriels,
etc.
