I am new to this list but not to the Rootsweb lists. Linda and Tony from the Portsmouth list suggested I take my search to the IOW list and make contact with Ann Barretts.
I am trying to trace the birth of William GORDON, born about 1846. In the censuses he gives his birthplace as Alverstoke but I cannot find him in the GRO, nor is he listed in the Alverstoke parish records. It's just possible he was born in Alverstone and I wonder if anyone has copies/access to the parish records.
Anything you can tell me will be welcome.

His father was William Gordon and his mother, Jane. Do you, Ann Barretts, have parish records for Alverstone.
