Someone mentioned about the Queen Mother...just the other day...I have found what I was looking for...
The Honourable Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon was born on Saturday 4th August, 1900. but......exactly where is a mystery!!!
That may never be solved! (can happen in the best of families it seems!!) Although certainly born in London, but where? May have been in a horse drawn ambulance.. her brith place was officially stated as the family home. St. Paul"s Walden Bury, in Hertfordshire. Elizabeth's father registered the birth at Hitchin when she was seven weeks old, and was duly fined 7/6d for failing to report the birth within the legal requirement of 42 days..
This information was printed in *This England*. Spring 2000. ( a lovely magazine for those who do not know of it!)
But then, if born in London - Hertfordshire is not London is it! London is London, Hertfordshire is a county of England. London being the Capital of England...
