Angela,
I have had a similar experience with the expression "son in law". In my
case it meant the stepson (you can see the logic) so don't assume the modern
meaning - take it more literally.

and below his name it say's (son in law of .........., have you any idea why
the father in laws name is listed instead of the wife?
