John:
You mentioned that you go to Familysearch.org and order Certificates for $2.00. Could you possibly tell me in baby steps how you go about ordering them?
I went to the site you mentioned and I didn't see anything about getting certificates.

Dear Bill,
Below is part of email I sent out before to the list. Hope it helps you.
If you still need more help PLEASE just ask, I'd love to share what ever I too learned from the list.
June :-)
P.S. not "John" - ha

This is what I did, first have to get the certificate number. I found them
on
http://www.italiangen.org/databaselist.stm and
http://www.germangenealogygroup.com/otherdb.stm and
http://www.stevemorse.org/
In their VITAL records section. You copy all the information you find
(names, date, where it took place & certificate number).
Then you go to the LDS site
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp

This is the section I used as my family all were in NY
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=localityhitlist&columns=*%2C0%2C0&PLACE=New+York&PARTOF=New+York&prePLACE=New+York&prePARTOF=New+York
Go to the borough that you are interested in & look under vital records -
NOT - indexes.
Click on marriage certificates or death certificates & etc.
Click on upper right hand corner - View Film Notes.
Scroll & check for your date & where your certificate number you got from
the sites above, fits in & then it's the FHL number on the far right that
you have to use to send out to the FHC on that "Request for Photocopies"
form.

For $2.00 you can't miss - it's worth taking the chance to see if they are
yours or not. Out of the 8, I sent for - 4 were my family - 1, I put in the
wrong certificate number in - 3 I don't think are mine, but waiting to find
more proof.
I wish you good luck, Cliff. If I could help you more just ask (like I did
to others, as I was scared not knowing "how" to do it - but with the list
help, it turned out easy).
June :-)

Request For Photocopies - Form
You can print out on both sides
of one sheet of paper. the front page you put your name & address - email
address & phone #.
On the back side (second sheet) under "General Microfilm or Microfiche".
There are 9 columns
1 - you put the long # from the right side of the LDS film page (like
1955887)
2 - leave blank - unless you want to order several of the same certificate
3 - Name of individual
4 - Is self explanatory
5 - Is self explanatory
6 - Date of event
7 - Place of event (like Bronx, NY)
8 - leave blank
9 - Would be the certificate number of the event you found (like I did on
the Italian site & other great sites out there).
