I think the Diocese of Piana only includes the Byzantine churches in Sicily, not the Latin rite ones.

By the way, Joni, have you ever been able to get permission to look at the church records in Piana?

The reason I ask is that I'm going on the group trip that is organized by Laura Johnson's Termini Imerese group. We will be in Termini Sept. 27-Oct. 4. I expect to spend one day in Mezzojuso and hope to get permission from the Latin and Byzantine rite churches there to look in their records for my ancestors. I do have a couple of Arberesh names in my family tree, Glaviano and Buccula, so I'm thinking I might find something about those ancestors if I can look in the records for San Nicolo di Mira, the Byzantine church in Mezzojuso.
