Dear Morgan

My grandmother, Grazia Grande, was born in Bitetto in 1897. I've visited the
town twice in recent years, and stayed with family that I found through
research. I have several Squicciarini connections in my line.

You can find what you are looking for in a couple of ways: 1. Visit your
nearest Family History Center [located in a Mormon/Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints Church] and rent the microfilm covering the year of your
ancestor's birth. 2. Write to Bitetto and ask for a copy of his birth
certificate and also for a Stato di Famiglia on his family. Bitetto has a
wonderful office in the municipio who handles these requests - not only did
they respond immediately to me when I wrote them years ago, they also drew
me a family tree from their records AND contacted family still living in
Bitetto to tell them that they had a cousin in America who was researching
the family.

You might also want to consider joining the Bari group on YahooGroups.com -
there are several people there [at least 5] who are researching in Bitetto
and may have connections to you.
