Hi, I have been looking at this list for a long time and there is finally a
topic I can relate to -- no pun intended!
There is a large Italian population in Des Moines Iowa and the state
newspaper did an article on Wandas -- a favorite Italian cookie of the local
residents.
I have enjoyed these at funeral dinners, weddings and special holidays. Any
celebration is a good reason to have "wandas." The spelling is Guantis or
wandas -- it just depends on who you are asking.
If anyone is interested in my recipe you can ask for it but I have seen many
that are similar.
I am still going to get some made for the holidays -- it just wouldn't be
Christmas without them!
