My grandfather was actually named Gilda Olinda Lepore [a girl!] on
his birth certificate, and the date of birth was 2 days later than what
he celebrated. I guess the midwife had a bad memory! He didn't
learn this until he went for a copy of his birth certificate. Anyway,
he was called William & Willie, even though the direct translation
of that name is Guglielmo as far as I know.
