Hi Nancy,
You might try this site.
http://gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/
and type in your surname in the upper left corner box, under cognome.
BTW, I'd love to know the Irish site similar to this.

--Subject: [Italy] newbie...surname frequency
--Good Day,
--
--I am a novice in the Italian arena of genealogy...having spent years
--researching Irish and Polish roots.
--
-- My question is based on the fact that both countries have a
--resource that
--denotes the frequency and general locations in which a
--surname is noted in
--the country.
--
-- Is there such a resource for Italy? If so, does anyone have
--access? I
--am just beginning to search my husband's family "CELLERI". I
--am trying to
--determine how common is the name, and where in Italy it might
--originate.
--
--Thank you for ANY input,
--
--Nancy
