Try using lady's surname when looking on the Ellis Island Site. Also, don't believe everything on on Census Forms. Mt grandfather came to the US in 1891. I was able to find him okay, but when I started researching for my grandmother and four children, I hit a snag. I remembered reading somewhere that Italian women, not traveling with their husbands, often used their maiden names. Since I couldn't find them under Bosone, I looked under Sandri, and up they popped, my grandmother and the four children. I mentioned the Census Forms, too. On one of the Census, it was noted that my grandma and the kids had arrived in1897, which was wrong. They arrived in 1901.
Good luck,
Joseph
