Thinks for the response to my inquiry, I have very little on
the Hood's and Downing of that time frame, what i do have is
the statement from John Hood (not the one in your reply) in
his Miller Application, that his Grandfather was Sundie
Downing (James, John )?? his grandmother was Pollie
Blackwell, His Grandfather had a brother Lewis Downing,
Sundie and Pollie had 3 sons Richard, James (Oostak) and
Tillman, one Half-brother Barrah (John), all went by the
last name Hood. We are not sure of what brought on the name
John also states that his Grandparents were living in the
Tahlequah District in 1851, and that his Father James
(Oostak) Hood was on the Emigrant payroll of 1851, and got
all payments up to 1871.
James (Oostak) Hood Married Lidia Burns/Chambers , Children
John is my wife's GGrandfather.
I hope that a little background may help if you come across
any other information that may apply.
Thinks ever so much for you help.
Ralph and Pat Hood/Miller
