Hi Mary,
You were looking for a Tombery, said it was blurry. You think for sure that
it ends with a y and has a tall letter in the middle, and probably starts
with a T???
A lot of towns that begin with Tom are in Co. Wexford - for example,
Tomnaboley, Tomacurry, Tomadilly, Tomfarney, Tombay, Tombrack, Tombrick,
Tomagad, ? Tomagaddy..
I didn't find anything exactly like what you are looking for whether Tom or
Ton or bery or bury or berry. Don't think I looked for Tun....
There are Thornberry and Carbury townlands in Kildare.
Tombeagh, Carlow. Tonakilly, Kerry.
Tonnaboy and Tonnaghboy in Fermanagh. Those aren't too far off.
Toberyquin, Limerick. Kilcarbery, Dublin.
Kilcarbery, Dublin. Tobercurry, Sligo. Tober T., Galway.
BEST BET: Check with a gazetter or an atlas at your library
or IreAtlas:
http://www.seanruad.com/
I have also seen a library book that gives names of Ireland towns/townlands
that no longer exist or the name has been changed.
Jean
