Have emailed the councillor. Living in Bradford I have seen a lot of our local heritage lost and was at pains to point out in my email that being born in Ramsgate I wouldn't want that particular piece of heritage to be lost. Once it's gone it's gone.

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on what's happening in our home town.

RAMSGATE MARITIME & MARGATE MUSEUM UNDER THREAT

Ramsgate Maritime Museum and its fellow institution Margate Local History Museum, both operated under the auspices of the East Kent Maritime Trust, are threatened with closure due to the proposed withdrawal of funding by the local authority. Cessation of the Thanet District Council annual grant will mean the loss not only of the conservation, display and education facilities provided by the museums but also the study, research and information services that form so important a part of their work.

As a past beneficiary of Ramsgate Maritime Museum’s information service I invite you to lend your voice in support of its continued provision. Your comments on the threatened closure may be sent to or direct to the Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture & Tourism: .

Thank you

Michael Hunt
