1) The following obituaries appear in the **July 21, 2004** edition of
the Citizen-Statesman, a weekly newspaper published in Celina, Clay Co.,
Tenn. All place names are in Tennessee unless otherwise noted.


JAMES SLATE, 76, of Red Boiling Springs, passed away July 12, 2004 at Monroe County Medical Center in Tomkinsville, Ky. He was the son of the late Dewey and Edith LYONS SLATE. He was married to the former Jacquelyn KNIGHT who survives. He was an electrician and a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was in the Whitley Cemetery.

RUTH "CITY" TINSLEY, age 83, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away July 9, 2004 at the Greenwood Health and Living in Greenwood, Ind. She was born Sept. 24, 1920 in Celina to the late Charles MASSINGILLE and Mattie CUNNINGHAM. Her husband, Weaver C. "Short" TINSLEY, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Interment was in the Tinsley Cemetery.

BARBARA CATHERINE KERR, age 51, of Celina, passed away July 14, 2004 at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was born Oct. 7, 1952, in Celina to the late Howard GRAY and Mashie Adeline KILLMAN Gray. She was a Chef and a member of of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Lee KERR of Celina.

Edwina Napier, who prepared the weekly listing of interesting tidbits from the old Bill Fiske's Bugles, has retired, so the column will no longer appear in the Citizen-Statesman. Too bad. It was fun reading them.
