I agree with Charlene. Too often census takers and people writing other
records were not as careful as they could have been. I'm researching James;
but, I check all variations of the name when I am checking records. (My
2cents worth.) Betty

I think the variations of the name James, Jamison, etc is the best,
because, as we all have seen, I'm sure, names can get misspelled on
census and other records. And my James might have been a Jamison long
ago or vice versa!!
