Marriage and Death Notices From the Up-Country of South Carolina as taken
from Greenville newspapers 1826 - 1863 compiled by Brent H. Holcomb, C. A. L.
S.
Departed this life on the 16th of March, at her residence in Autauga County,
Ala., Mrs. Alice C. James, wife of the Rev. Robert B. James, in the 44th year
of her age. The subject of this notice was born in Laurens District, S. C.,
and with her husband moved to Alabama about the year 1832.… She was a most
exemplary member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for fifteen years.… The
community in which she lived has lost a most valuable member--the church a
bright and shining member--a doating husband a most affectionate wife - a
numerous family of children an ever kind and indulgent mother. (April 25,
1845)
